In Hong Kong, there are ten universities. Besides the eight universities participate jupas, there are the Hong Kong institute of education and Hong Kong Shue Yan university too. The number of students who can get into university is increasing, but some of them cannot get into university because there are not enough places. Therefore, more universities are needed and there maybe a new private university by 2012.
The president of the Hang Seng School of Commerce has pledged to make the college a private university by 2012. The senior secondary college is famous for its high number of students achieving straight A's in A-Level exams. The new university would enrol 2000 undergraduates in four faculties: finance, accounting, commerce, and language and mass communication. I believe that it helps Hong Kong become an education hub, and I think the new university is reliable.
As i have mentioned, there are ten universities in Hong Kong. Compare to othere countries, like USA, Britain, Japan, the universities we had is very small. Therefore, if Hong Kong want to be the education hub of Asia, we have to increase the number of universities. And I believe that the new university is the first step to increase the number of universities, there will be more private universities in the future.
The reason for me to think that the new university is reliable, because of their background. It is really hard to find other institutions that are as well prepared as they are, especially in areas like their strong financial background and teaching quality. Their students always achieve good results in A-Level proof that they are reliable.
However, the new university seems that is only for the students who are studing the subject about commerce. Then, how about the students studing science and liberal arts? It only helps a small group of students, and government have to consider the students do not studing commerce.
